The Series
Elon holds a 7-3 edge in the all-time series with Samford and the maroon and gold has won three of the last four meetings with the Bulldogs.  The teams first met in Birmingham in 1973 with Elon claiming a 33-10 victory.  The two programs did not meet again until 1997 - a 46-32 Samford win in Birmingham.

The Coaches
Elon: Jason Swepson (Boston College ‘92) is 8-12 and is in his second year as a head coach, both with the Phoenix.  Prior to becoming Elon’s head coach, Swepson spent 12 years as an assistant with Tom O’Brien at both Boston College and NC State.

Samford: Pat Sullivan (Auburn ‘72) owns a career mark of 55-75-1 in his 11+ seasons as a collegiate head coach.  Sullivan, in his sixth season at Samford, is 31-33 with the Bulldogs.

A Numbers Game
• 9 - Number of receivers that caught passes for the Phoenix in Charleston last weekend.
• 37 - Completions by Thomas Wilson against The Citadel last week, a career-high.
• 285 - Career receptions by Aaron Mellette, tying him for second all-time in the SoCon with The Citadel’s Andre Roberts.

It Happened on November 10
Elon Football: On Nov. 10, 1928, Coach “Peahead” Walker led Elon to its first victory of the year, a 21-18 decision at the University of Miami.

World Events: On Nov. 10, 1969, “Sesame Street” premiered on PBS Television.

Player of the Month
For the third time in his career, senior wide receiver Aaron Mellette was honored as the SoCon’s Offensive Player of the Month as he earned the accolade for October.  In just three October outings Mellette racked up 32 catches for 595 yards and eight touchdowns.  He averaged 198.3 receiving yards per game and tied a career high with 237 receiving yards at Appalachian State.
