SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Elon's Homecoming football game against Western Carolina on Oct. 20 has been announced as a part of the Southern Conference's 2012 ESPN3 schedule.  Among the 40-game conference package with ESPN3, the SoCon will produce eight football games.

The schedule begins with a non-conference game when Appalachian State hosts Montana on Sept. 8.  The next broadcast will occur on Sept. 29 and will feature Samford at Georgia Southern.  Six consecutive weeks of broadcasts begin on Oct. 13 to close out the season.  The conference will select the final two Wildcard games (Nov. 10 & 17) in conjunction with ESPN3 to choose games that figure to have the greatest impact on the league race and postseason playoff positioning.

Elon's game against Western Carolina is set for a 3 p.m. kickoff inside of Rhodes Stadium.
