RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men's golf junior Jared Mactas has been named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Golfer of the Week as announced on Wednesday, Nov. 4, by the conference office.
 
The junior transfer from Lafayette finished in a five-way tie for fifth after a rain-shortened Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley to earn the honor.
 
A native of Woofdcliff, N.J., Mactas shot a 68 (-3), carding a 34 on both the front and back nine holes. He finished just two strokes behind the individual winner Oskar Lundgren of Brevard College.
 
It was Mactas' first top-five finish in his first season as a Phoenix after transferring from Lafayette. As a team, Elon earned a fourth place finish in the tournament shooting a three-under (281).
 
The Phoenix competed the fall season at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate. The spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
