EARLYSVILLE, Va. – A second straight All-Region performance by senior Kimberly Johansen highlighted the Elon University cross country programs' day at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday morning, Nov. 11, on the course at Panorama Farms.
 
Johansen closed out the race as the program's new record holder in the 6K as the Chelmsford, England, native clocked a time of 20:51.7 and finished 14^th overall. That finish garnered her her second All-Region accolade as well as the highest finish ever for the Elon women at the regional meet at the Division I era. She ended the day as the program's career record holder in both the 5K and 6K races.
 
Overall the Phoenix women finished 11^th at the regional meet with 300 points. NC State captured the regional championship as the Wolfpack, who came into the meet ranked second in the nation, finished with 53 points. Louisville (163), Kentucky (164), Furman (168) and Wake Forest (186) closed out the top-five team scores. Colonial Athletic Association champion William & Mary was the top CAA school in ninth with 263 points edging out league foe James Madison who was 10^th at 273.
 
On the men's side, the Elon male harriers was 27^th overall with 716 points in the 10K race. The Wolfpack also took the title in the men's race with 90 points. Host Virginia (105), Furman (106), Eastern Kentucky (117) and Kentucky (150) rounded out the top-five men's team scores. William & Mary was eighth overall as the top CAA team with 235 points.
 
Women's Recap
Sophomore Coralea Geraniotis was the next Phoenix runner to cross the finish line for the Phoenix as she finished 48^th in the race with a time of 21:44.7 – a new personal-best for the Orleans, Mass., native. Rookie Melissa Anastasakis also garnered a top-60 finish with a time of 21:54.8, which is also a new collegiate-best for the Hillsdale, Ontario, native. Rounding out the top-five scores were Carolyn Hopkins (86^th, 22:18.4) and Corey Weiss (96^th, 22:26.3).
 
Men's Recap
Rookie Ian Mickool was the top finisher for the Phoenix at 125^th and a time of 32:15.7. Fellow frosh Richie Kasper was next with a time of 32:24.2 while junior Justin Leopold was No. 3 for Elon at 32:36.3. Michael Germinario came in at 32:54.6 while Colton Lawson was the fifth scorer for the squad at 33:39.4.
 
Two-time Colonial Athletic Association individual champion Nick Ciolkowski did not finish the race after becoming injured and pulling off shortly after the 2K split.
