RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men's tennis swept the CAA weekly honors on Wednesday, Feb. 15, with
Felipe Sarrasague taking home Player of the Week and the duo of
Petar Tomic and
Chris Humphreys earning Doubles Team of the Week.
Sarrasague posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and helped lead the Phoenix to a pair of home victories. The sophomore rolled past Liberty's Chase Burton 6-0, 6-1 in a 5-2 defeat of the Flames on Wednesday, Feb. 8, before topping William & Mary's Aidan Talcott 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in Elon's 5-2 win over the Tribe on Saturday, Feb. 11.
On the doubles side, Tomic and Humphreys played a key role in Elon's success by clinching both doubles points last week. First against the Flames, the two topped Ryker Heller and Eddie Gutierrez, 6-2, before pulling out a thrilling 7-6 (6) win over the Tribe's Tristan Bautil and Addison Appleby to decide the doubles point.
Elon is back in action Saturday, Feb. 18, for a 1 p.m. match against James Madison. The Phoenix will close a four-match homestand on Sunday, Feb. 19, when it hosts Longwood, also at 1 p.m.
