Jonathan Small  joined the Phoenix program as the director of football operations in May of 2013 after spending the previous three seasons in the same capacity at the College of William & Mary.

"I am pleased that Jonathan Small has decided to stay on board," said head coach Rich Skrosky.  "Jonathan will serve as director of football operations.  His list of responsibilities is endless.  Those responsibilities will encompass, but not be limited to, our players’ welfare, organizing alumni events, being involved with our summer internship/job program, handling our team's travel, assisting coach Scott Browne with recruiting and running our summer high school camps.  Jonathan has valuable experience being the son of a long-time coach and administrator as well as having previously worked at another CAA school prior to Elon."

Among Small's numerous responsibilities will be assisting in the coordination of travel, meals and other logistics pertaining to the football program.

Prior to his time at William & Mary, Small worked as an assistant coach at Charleston Southern University from 2006-07.  

Small has also held the position of new business development intern with at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney World.  In addition to creating and implementing new events for the organization, he served as an assistant project manager for ESPN RISE Games and was the project manager and creator of the Premiere 7's High School Football Passing Camp.

While earning a master's degree in sport business at Georgia State University from 2007-09, Small served as the sales and marketing intern for The PGA TOUR's Tour Championship in Atlanta, Ga.

Small has also worked as an intern and game day operations assistant with the Charleston Riverdogs, the Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

In addition to earning a master's degree in sport business management from Georgia State in 2009, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Charleston Southern in 2006.

His father, Hank Small, is the Athletics Director at Charleston Southern and spent more than thirty years as a college football coach.
