Nicole Thomas begins her first season as the volunteer assistant coach for the Elon University softball team after concluding her playing career at UNCG in 2016.
Thomas was a four-year letterwinner (2012-16) with the Spartans and was a three-time NFCA All Mideast Region selection and a three-time Southern Conference first team pick. She also was a UNCG Female Athlete of the Year nominee in 2015 and the team’s offensive player of the year that same season. She finished her UNCG career with a .362 batting average and 31 home runs, ranking fourth and fifth respectively in the program’s record book. Thomas also posted a 22-17 record in the circle with three saves ranking sixth on the all-time UNCG saves list.
Academically, Thomas was a three-time Capital One Academic All-District recipient and made the Dean’s List every semester. As a senior, she earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team Honors and was a member of the National Honor Society for Leadership and Success and the Golden Chain Honor Society.
Thomas also competed with the National Puerto Rico Softball Federation in 2015, serving as a pitcher and hitter for Team Valencianas from Juncos, Puerto Rico. She help the team compete for the championship for the first time in team history.
A native of Irvine, Calif., Thomas earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from UNCG in 2016 with a concentration in sports medicine. She is currently pursuing her masters in public health at UNCG.
