CHARLOTTE, NC -- The Big South Conference recently announced its Select Scholar awards for 1999-2000. In all, 67 student-athletes -- 10 from Elon -- were honored with the prestigious award.

Damian Smith (men's soccer), Christine Polansky (women's soccer), Kathryn Feyes (volleyball), Kari Spiker (women's cross country), Morgan Bell (men's basketball), John Albert (baseball), Gina Krueger (softball), John Marshall (men's golf), Adriano Blacutt (men's tennis) and Julianne Treme (women's tennis) all represented the Fightin' Christians on the list.

The Select Scholar award is chosen by the League's Faculty Athletic Representatives. Each member institution's Faculty Athletic Representative selects one qualifying senior from every Conference-sponsored sport based on his or her academic record. To qualify, the student-athlete must have maintained a GPA of at least 3.0.
