CHARLESTON, SC -- Elon's men's tennis team lost their second straight match on Friday, this one to Big South foe Charleston Southern by a 7-0 margin. The loss drops Elon's record to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Remy Nagel dropped the first singles match by a 7-5, 6-2 score to Thomas Miho. Richard Dutton, who has assumed the #2 singles position with Chai Navawongse injured, fell 7-5, 6-0 to Sandeep Yeni Reddy, while Justin Roberson lost 6-4, 6-1 to Rodrigo Villarrod. Peter Van Graafeiland was downed by Rohan Wadehra 6-4, 6-2 and Mike Prelec fell 6-4, 6-1 to Arial Furfuro. In the final singles match, Chad York was downed by Santiago Falla 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles competition Dutton and Roberson fell to Miho and Wadehra 8-1. Van Graafeiland and Nick Belutty were dropped 8-4 by Furfuro and Villarrod, while Nagel and Prelec lost 8-2 to Reddy and Soufiane Rechag.
The Phoenix will look to get back on the winning track tomorrow when the visit Coastal Carolina.
