Phoenix Welcomes Mocs to Alumni Gym on Friday Night

ELON, N.C.
– The Elon men’s basketball team will begin a stretch of three games in six days when it hosts the Chattanooga Mocs in a Southern Conference matchup on Friday evening in Alumni Gym. This is the final chance to see the Phoenix in action at home before the new year with the tip scheduled for 6 p.m. Elon is looking for a third consecutive victory against the Mocs.

FREE THROWS
• Senior Chris Long is just two points away from hitting 900 career points.
• With a three-pointer against Lynchburg, Chris Long took over sole possession of fifth place on the career three-point list with 131.
• In the last four games, Drew Spradlin is averaging 19.3 ppg and shooting 57 percent from the field. He has hit 11-of-20 treys in those contests.
• Chris Long is third on Elon’s all-time career assists list with 377 helpers. He leads the team with 4.1 apg.
• Elon has had four or more players in double figures in each of the last two games — both victories.
• The Phoenix ranks first in the Southern Conference in scoring offense, averaging 78.6 ppg. On the contrary, Elon ranks eight in scoring defense, allowing 75.9 ppg.
• Elon’s four scholarship freshmen are all averaging double-figure minutes.
• Elon is second in the league in assists (15.7) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2).

LAST TIME OUT
• Elon was victorious for the second straight game, draining 16 three-pointers to defeat Lynchburg, 102-63.
• Elon had six players in double figures for the first time this year and eight different players had at least one three-pointer.
• The Phoenix scored 30 points off 21 Lynchburg turnovers, racking up 12 steals.
• Knocking down 52.9 percent of its shots, Elon shot above 50 percent for the second straight contest. The Phoenix also drained 14-of-17 from the free throw line.
• Elon’s bench scored 55 points in the winning effort. Jack Isenbarger came off the bench to lead all scorers with 15 points on 4-of-6 from long range.

THE MOCS
• After two straight Southern Conference victories over Appalachian State and Western Carolina, Chattanooga is coming off a home loss to Murray State, 73-65.
• Elon is 4-3 against Chattanooga in Alumni Gym.
• Senior Chris Long has had Chattanooga’s number over the years — last year he averaged 22.5 ppg, nailed nine triples and dished 16 assists in two contests.
