Phoenix Continues Road Trip at North Division Leader Chattanooga

ELON, N.C
. – The Elon men’s basketball team will look for its second straight win at McKenzie Arena when it visits the Southern Conference North Division leading Chattanooga Mocs (12-10, 8-2) on Saturday night. The Phoenix (10-11, 4-6) is aiming to end a three-game road losing skid after dropping a 69-67 decision at Samford on Thursday evening. Tip time for Saturday night’s league tilt is set for 6 p.m.

This weekend is designated as the annual Coaches vs. Cancer® Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend, where basketball coaches nationwide will wear sneakers with their suits to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society and its vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

• Elon will be looking for a second straight win at McKenzie Arena after earning an 82-63 victory at UTC last year.
• The Phoenix has dropped its last three road games and is 3-7 away from home this year.
• Elon is looking for its fifth SoCon win of the year, which would match its total from 2009-10.
• Elon is averaging 74.7 ppg — second most in the SoCon.
• With six treys at Samford, Chris Long has 153 career triples. He is just five away from tying TJ Douglas for fourth place all-time at Elon.
• Chris Long is averaging 7.8 apg over the last five games. His assist-to-turnover ratio in those games is nearly 4:1.
• Drew Spradlin is quickly climbing toward the 1,000-point plateau, now at 858 career points. He is averaging 18.2 ppg against SoCon opponents this year — fifth-best in the league.
• Freshman Lucas Troutman has had at least one block in 10 of the last 11 games and leads the team with 27 on the year.
• Drew Spradlin needs just two three-pointers to move into a tie for seventh all-time in school history. Spradlin has knocked down 126 career triples.

LAST TIME OUT
• Jack Isenbarger’s game-winning three-pointer clanged off the rim as the horn sounded, ending Elon’s fast and furious comeback and giving the host Samford Bulldogs a 69-67 victory on Thursday night.
• Senior Chris Long scored 21 points — 18 in the second half — to lead the squad. The point guard drained three straight triples in the final 1:31 to put Elon in position for a shot to win.
• Drew Spradlin scored in double figures for the 10th consecutive game with 10 points.
• Behind nine boards from Scott, Elon dominated the glass, 42-26.

ELON VS. CHATTANOOGA
• Under Coach Matheny, Elon is 2-1 against Chattanooga. Matheny earned his first-ever league victory as a head coach when Elon won at McKenzie Arena last year, 82-63, on Dec. 5. Long had 20 points and nine assists in this game.
• In the first meeting this season, the Mocs were all over the glass, outrebounding Elon 48-31 in the 71-65 victory at Alumni Gym. Moc guard Keegan Bell netted 23 points in the win.
• Elon is 1-4 in its last five games at Chattanooga.
• North Division-leading Chattanooga is coming off a double overtime victory against UNC Greensboro on Thursday night.
