Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Play at ITA Carolina Regional

The Elon University men's tennis team wrapped up action at the 2013 ITA Carolina Regional on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Cary Tennis Center.
 
Cameron Silverman saw his run in the singles draw come to an end in the semifinals, as the 34th-ranked senior dropped a 6-2, 6-4, decision to North Carolina's Brett Clark. Prior to his match in the semifinals, Silverman posted a first-round win (7-5, 7-6 (1)) against Campbell's Marthinus Visser and a three-set win (6-4, 2-6, 6-1) versus Cale Hammond from Duke in the second round. In the third round, Silverman posted a 6-4, 6-3, win against Phillipe Tsangarides from Coastal Carolina before a three-set win (6-1, 3-6, 6-3) win against Duke's Jason Tahir in the round of 16. Silverman was also victorious in the quarterfinals, posting a 6-3, 6-4, win against Duke's Bruno Semenzato. Silverman is 14-2 in singles action this fall.
 
Jordan Kaufman picked up a singles win in the first round, posting a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, win against Gardner-Webb's Brendan Dempsey.
 
Silverman and Brian Kowalski teamed up for a pair of doubles wins as well, posting an 8-6 win over Wofford's Trevor Gotkowski and Jackson Keith and an 8-4 decision against Campbell's Fernando Guillen and Marthinus Visser.
 
Kaufman and Robert Lindgren were victorious in the first round of doubles play as well after an 8-6 win against Campbell's Steven Billington and Dominik Kaniewski.
 
Elon closes out its fall campaign next weekend with the Elon Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
