ELON, N.C. – The Elon volleyball team hosts its final two matches of the regular season this weekend as the Phoenix (6-22, 2-12) welcomes Hofstra and Northeastern to Alumni Gym. After taking on the Pride (19-10, 10-4) on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., the maroon and gold hosts the Huskies (6-23, 3-11) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, on Senior Day.

A Look at the Phoenix
The Elon volleyball team was not able to claim a win in its final road match of the regular season, falling in three to UNCW on Saturday. Michelle Klein tallied nine kills off 15 attempts and had only two errors to hit .467 for the Phoenix and also posted two blocks, two digs and an ace. Ebony Scott also recorded nine kills followed by Kam Terry with five kills. Sydel Curry finished with a match-high 27 assists, while Maddie Jaudon had a team-high 10 digs and Ally Karle posted three blocks.

Senior Day
Sunday's match against Northeastern marks Senior Day for the program's three seniors – Megan Gravley, Catherine Head and Ana Nicksic. All three have been a vital part to the program the last four years and all leave with their names in the Elon record book. Gravley reached 1,000-career kills earlier this season, while Ana Nicksic ranks sixth all-time in assists in program history. Head ranks third on the program's single match record list in blocks after 10 blocks in the match at High Point on Sept. 1.

Scouting the Pride
Hofstra is the reigning CAA tournament champions and boasts a 19-10 overall record and 10-4 CAA record this season. The Pride rallied from a 3-1 loss at James Madison Saturday to sweep Delaware in its last match on Monday. Hofstra ranks 10th nationally in assists and 15th in kills, while setter Hannah Klemm leads the nation with 1,275 assists on the season and is 10th in assists per set. On defense, the Pride is second in the CAA in total blocks, while rookie Michela Rucli ranks 10th in the NCAA with 136 total blocks.

Series History
The Pride leads the all-time series against the Phoenix, 3-0. The last meeting went five sets with Hofstra winning the final set, 15-9, to pull out the victory on Sept. 27 in Hempstead, N.Y.

Scouting the Huskies
Northeastern went 2-1 in its three-match week last week, claiming a win over league-leader JMU, 3-2, and a 3-1 victory against Delaware before falling in four to Towson on Sunday. Outside hitter Brigitte Burcescu leads the Huskies with 366 kills on the season and averages 3.16 kills per set, while setter Jamie Bredahl has tallied three triple-doubles on the season.

Series History
Northeastern has won all four previous meetings, including the three CAA matches since Elon joined the league. The Phoenix fell just short of a win in the last season against the Huskies on Oct. 24, 2014, 3-2, after a 15-12 loss in the fifth set. NU claimed a 3-1 win earlier this season on Sept. 25 with close 29-27 and 26-24 victories in the last two sets.

Block Party
The Elon defense has been impressive at the net this season and is out-blocking opponents 216.5-175.5 and averaging 2.1 blocks per set. The maroon and gold block has been led by Catherine Head and Ally Karle, who have each recorded career highs this season. Karle posted 11 blocks at Hofstra, which was the most by an Elon player since 2006, and ranks second on the program's Division I single-match records list.

Head Coach Mary Tendler
Elon head coach Mary Tendler is in her 13th season with the Phoenix program. She enters this weekend's matches with a 195-223 Elon and career coaching record.
