ELON, N.C. – The Elon volleyball team makes its final road trip of the regular season this weekend to face both College of Charleston and UNCW. The Phoenix (6-20, 2-10) takes on the Cougars (14-12, 6-6) on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in Charleston, S.C., before its last road match against the Seahawks (18-6, 9-3) on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Wilmington, N.C., at 7 p.m.

A Look at the Phoenix
After dropping a tight first set at Delaware, Elon responded to claim the next two before the Blue Hens surged late to take a 3-2 final in the maroon and gold's last match on Saturday. The Phoenix was led by a double-double from Sydney Busa, her seventh of the season, after 16 kills and 10 digs. Kam Terry posted 13 kills, while Ebony Scott matched her career high with 11 kills. Sydel Curry also finished with a double-double after a career-high 47 assists and 12 digs.

Scouting the Cougars
CofC, the reigning CAA regular season champions, is 14-12 on the season and 6-6 in conference play after a 3-0 win over conference-leader James Madison last Sunday. The Cougars rank 11th and 15th in the NCAA in team assists (1,295) and kills (1,372), respectively, while ranking second in the CAA in both assists (13.08) and kills per set (13.86). Outside hitter Melissa Morello leads the league and ranks 20th nationally in kills with 395 on the season and averages 3.99/set.

Series History
While Elon has only been in the CAA for two seasons, the Phoenix and the Cougars have a long series history from their time in the Southern Conference. Friday is the 25th all-time meeting with CofC holding a 22-2 advantage. The last time the maroon and gold claimed a victory was on Oct. 15, 2006, in Charleston, S.C.

Scouting the Seahawks
UNCW owns an 18-6 record on the season with a 9-3 mark in CAA play after taking down previously unbeaten James Madison last weekend before falling to Towson. The Seahawks rank in the top 10 nationally in blocks (second), blocks per set (seventh) and opponent hitting percentage (ninth). The team averages 3.05 blocks/set and has the top two blockers in the league in Anna Moss and Meredith Peacock, who also rank in the top 25 in the NCAA.

Series History
The series between Elon and UNCW dates back to 1976 with Saturday marking the 31st meeting. The Seahawks hold the slight edge in the series, 17-13, with victories in the last five matches. Elon's last win came in a tournament in Durham, N.C., on Aug. 28, 2009.

Block Party
The Elon defense has been impressive at the net so far this season and is out-blocking opponents 207.5-162.5. The Phoenix has out-blocked the other team in 14 of its 26 matches this year and is averaging 2.2 blocks per set. The maroon and gold block has been led by Catherine Head and Ally Karle, who have each recorded career highs this season. Karle posted 11 blocks at Hofstra, which was the most by an Elon player since 2006, and ranks second on the program's Division I single-match records list.

Head Coach Mary Tendler
Elon head coach Mary Tendler is in her 13th season with the Phoenix program. She enters this weekend's matches with a 195-221 Elon and career coaching record.
