ELON, N.C. - The Elon University women's soccer team earned a point in league play with a scoreless draw against the Drexel Dragons after 110 minutes of action on Friday night, Oct. 14, at Rudd Field.
The Phoenix moves to 7-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in CAA play after the draw. Drexel moves to 4-1-2 in league play and 8-5-3 overall after the tie.
HIGHLIGHTS
Erin Tanhauser created the best chance of the first half for the Phoenix in the 35
th minute. Her shot from the right side of the box tested Drexel goalkeeper Christian Ogunsami. Elon dominated most of the possession, however the match remains scoreless after 45 minutes.
In the second half, the Phoenix turned up the pressure after only getting off four shots in the first half. Elon outshot the Dragons 10-7 in the second period. Tanhauser created the first real chance for the Phoenix in the 52
nd minute, but her header missed high off of
Taylor Paradoski's cross.
Tori Baliatico also had a great chance for Elon off a corner kick in the 62
nd minute, but a Drexel defender blocked the shot off the post.
Olivia Lucia had a shot miss wide left in the 72
nd minute after getting some space at the top of the box.

Katelyn Fowler made some important saves in the 83
rd and 84
th minutes to keep the Phoenix in the match.
Alexis de Groot got off Elon's final shot in regulation, but a Drexel defender blocked her shot in the 89th minute.
In the first overtime, Fowler saved both of Drexel's shots to force a second overtime period. Elon responded well in the second overtime with a shot from Baliatico in the 104
th minute that was blocked, but the Phoenix could not find a winning goal and the match ended in a draw. For the match, Drexel earned the slight edge 16-15 in the shot count. However, Elon outcornered the Dragons 11-7.
