CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Elon volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-23) victory over Charleston Southern today, Sept. 17, to close out the Bulldog Invitational on the campus of The Citadel.

Kam Terry led the Phoenix (13-3) with a new three-set career-high 15 kills and fell just shy of a double-double with nine digs.
Sydney Busa tallied the double-double for the maroon and gold after 13 kills and a team-high 12 digs.
Sydel Curry recorded 33 assists, while
Elizabeth Coil led the defense with three blocks and
Morgan Maner posted nine digs.

The Buccaneers (5-10) saw a team-high 10 kills from Addison Kaderli and 15 assists by Naiomi Rivera, while Madison Martin recorded a match-high 17 digs.

How it Happened
An ace by
Erin Kelly and kills by Terry and Curry capped a span of five straight to put the Phoenix up by six, 9-3, in the first set. A Terry kill kept Elon with the same advantage, 16-10, before the Buccaneers managed to close the gap to two, 20-18. The Phoenix used two kills by Terry and others from Busa and
Michelle Klein to close out the set on a 5-1 run and win, 25-19.

With the maroon and gold leading by one in the second set, 8-7, two kills and an ace by Klein helped move the Phoenix ahead by three, 11-8. CSU evened the score at 15-all before Elon used kills by
Ebony Scott and Terry for a 5-0 run to make it a 20-15 advantage. The Bucs would not back down closing the gap back to two, 21-19, but two kills by Terry and an ace by Busa gave the Phoenix a 25-20 win.

CSU jumped out to an early 10-4 lead in the third set before a kill by Curry helped the Phoenix close the gap to two, 12-10. A block by Scott and kill by Terry capped the 11-4 run to give Elon the lead, 15-14. The score would see seven more ties by the time the set reached, 21-all. Kills by Busa, Scott and Terry and a block by Coil and Terry closed out the set for a 25-23 final to give the Phoenix the sweep.
