ELON, N.C. – The Elon volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to keep the match alive but could not complete the comeback, falling 3-1 (24-26, 26-28, 25-20, 21-25) to High Point today, Sept. 3, in Alumni Gym as part of the Tussle in the Triad.

Kam Terry led all players with a career-high 20 kills followed by a second straight double-double from
Kayla Agae with 15 kills and 14 digs.
Ally Karle also finished in double-digit kills for the Phoenix (3-2) with 10 kills.
Sydel Curry bested her new career high from last night with a new high of 50 assists, while
Maddie Jaudon finished with 15 digs.

Haley Barnes led the Panthers (4-1) with 18 kills and 13 digs followed by 12 kills each from Megan Kennedy and Molly Livingston.

How it Happened
With the first set tied at 13-all, back-to-back kills by Terry and one by Agae put the Phoenix in front, 18-15. The Panthers rallied to even the score at 18-all with four more ties by the time it reached 24-all. HPU claimed the final two points to take the set, 26-24.

Kills by Agae and
Michelle Klein helped Elon to a quick 4-1 advantage in the second set. The Panthers evened the score at 10-all before Elon grabbed as much a four-point edge, 22-18, after three kills from Terry and an ace by Curry. HPU rallied to tie the set at 23-all and the score remained tight, 26-all, but the Panthers were able to take a 2-0 match lead after a 28-26 win.

After the break, the Phoenix grabbed a five-point advantage, 14-9, with the help of blocks by Klein and Curry and two kills by Agae. Elon maintained its lead, using kills by Terry to reach set point and win the set, 25-20, to keep the match alive.

The maroon and gold jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the fourth set after kills by Klein and Agae and an ace by Agae. The Phoenix extended the advantage to four, 20-16, before the Panthers pulled even 21-all. HPU managed to close out the set on a 6-0 run to claim the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-1.
