ELON, N.C. – Every Monday, Phoenix fans can get a look at the week ahead with our "Elon Athletics Weekly Update" feature when we will preview all the week's upcoming events for our sports teams.
 
Men's Basketball (6-3, 0-0 CAA)

• Elon posted a perfect 2-0 week in thrilling fashion with a 79-78 overtime victory over South Florida on Thursday, Nov. 30, and a 71-65 double-overtime win against Saint Peter's on Saturday, Dec. 2, inside Alumni Gym.
• Tyler Seibring led the way averaging 19 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists, and a block over the two games. The Phoenix has now won three-straight games and five of its last six contests to improve to 6-3 overall. 
• Elon has been a force defensively this season, ranking second in the CAA in rebounding and third in field goal percentage defense. Elon limited Saint Peter's to just 32 percent from the floor on Saturday. 
• The Phoenix hits the road this week to face Triad-rival UNCG on Thursday at 7 p.m. Join the Phoenix Club for a pregame social at Ham's Restaurant from 5-6:30 p.m. Click here to register for the event.

• Elon posted a 1-1 week with a 106-54 victory on Monday, Nov. 27, over Coker before dropping a two-point, 53-51 game at Wake Forest on Saturday, Dec. 2.
• Shay Burnett made history Monday night with the first triple-double in school history. The senior guard finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Meme Garner also had a strong week, setting new career highs in points in both games. She scored 16 points on Monday against Coker before dropping a team-high 17 against Wake Forest. The senior from Siler City, N.C., hit a game-tying three-pointer in the final seconds of the game, but Wake Forest drew up a play and converted a layup with 2.4 seconds left to seal the win.
• Before a nine-day break for exams, Elon will play once more with a Wednesday, Dec. 6, matchup at Davidson. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and marks the first meeting since Feb. 10, 2014, between the two when both programs were Southern Conference members. Elon won that night, 66-63. 
 
Women's Track & Field
Not in competition this week
• Elon opened its 2017-18 indoor schedule Saturday, Dec. 2, at the JDL College Kickoff Classic inside the JDL Fast Track Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.
• Sophomore Skylar Barthelmes set a new personal-record in the shot put, as the Dartmouth, Mass., native had a toss of 12.98m in the event and finished fourth overall. In the long jump, Melody Burke was sixth in the event with her leap of 5.39m.
• The Phoenix returns to action after the turn of the calendar at the VMI Keydet Invitational on Jan. 19-20 and at the Wake Forest Invitational on Jan. 20-21.
