ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's tennis is set to open its 2017 fall tennis season this weekend from Friday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Sept. 10, at the Seahawk Fall Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.

This weekend's tournament is the first of six this fall the Phoenix is scheduled to take part in. The slate is highlighted by the Elon Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center from Sept. 22-24. Other tournaments Elon will partake in include tournaments at Duke and UNCG, as well as the ITA Carolina Regionals in Cary, N.C., and the ITA Oracle Masters in Malibu, Calif.

Elon returns five of its six singles players and five of its six doubles players from the 2016-17 season. In singles, the Phoenix welcomes back each of its top three singles players in Felipe Sarrasague, Mario Paccini and Salvador Mijares. Elon made its fifth consecutive trip to its conference tournament semifinals during its 2017 spring season, but fell short of the title match because of a 4-1 loss to William & Mary.
