ELON, N.C. – Elon University volleyball's winning streak came to an end Friday, Oct. 26, as Northeastern bested the Phoenix 3-0 in Schar Center.
Â
"Northeastern played a great match tonight," said head coachÂ
Mary Tendler. "We couldn't execute well enough to match their level of play. We had moments of playing really good volleyball, but couldn't sustain that for long periods of time."

Â
THE RUNDOWN
With the score even at 10-all in the opening set, the Huskies took off with an 8-1 stretch. Elon couldn't come up with a response, and the visitors earned a 25-15 decision to grab the early lead. The Phoenix put up more of a fight in set two, with a pair of
Kam Terry kills allowing the maroon and gold to take an early 6-3 advantage. Later, a
Kodi Garcia service ace made it 17-16 in favor of Elon, but NU answered with a 7-1 run. The Phoenix staved off multiple set points to pull to within a point at 24-23, but the guests scored a kill to go up 2-0.
Â
NU pulled away early in set three, establishing a 13-5 edge before Elon strung together four unanswered. The Huskies' attack proved too effective, though, as another 7-0 run helped NU put the match away.
