HARRISONBURG, Va. – Kam Terry and
Kodi Garcia both recorded double-doubles to lead Elon University volleyball in a 3-0 loss to James Madison Sunday afternoon, Nov. 4, at Sinclair Gymnasium.

"Our intensity and energy was great today," said head coach
Mary Tendler. "We made a lot of incredible plays, just not enough to win. I thought our ball control got better as the match went along, which allowed our offense to be more effective. Unfortunately, their offense got better too."

Elon is now 13-13 overall and 4-10 in CAA matches, while JMU moves to 20-5, 12-2.

THE RUNDOWN
JMU opened the first set with a 4-1 run, but Elon pulled even at 10-all as Garcia assisted Terry for the kill. The Dukes retook control with a 5-1 effort and would force an Elon timeout with the score at 19-14. The hosts held on 25-18 for the early match lead.

Set two featured seven ties before JMU went up 12-9. After calling a timeout, the maroon and gold earned three-straight points for yet another tie at 12-all. After trading points, the Dukes finally created some separation with a 5-1 swing. Later,
Natalie Cummins scored a free ball as Elon put together a 3-0 response to close the gap 21-19. That was the closest the Phoenix would get though, as the Dukes used a 4-1 run to close out the set.

In set three,
Nori Thomas and Cummins started off the scoring with a block. Terry then attacked an over ball and
Kellyn Trowse followed a JMU point with a kill as Elon led 4-1. Elon remained in control until a 3-1 run allowed JMU to knot the set at 10-all. With the set even at 15-all, the purple and gold posted six unanswered to pull away.
Elizabeth Coil and Terry halted the run with consecutive kills. Facing match point at 24-18, Thomas scored a kill and Terry followed with an ace, but JMU recorded a kill to bring the match to a close.
