MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Elon University volleyball freshman
Kellyn Trowse picked up another honor Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4, as she was named to the 2018 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Second Team.

A product of Tampa, Fla., Trowse played in 92 sets and appeared in all 28 matches during the 2018 season, starting 18. She finished second on the team in scoring with 197 kills and added 11 assists, four service aces, 115 digs, and 47 blocks (four of them solo) to her totals. Additionally, she posted two double-doubles, both against William & Mary. Her play led to her being named to the CAA All-Rookie Team.

Trowse is the first Phoenix to earn the distinction since Elon had five honorees in 2016. That year,
Ally Karle,
Ebony Scott,
Sydel Curry, and
Kam Terry were named to the first team while
Sydney Busa was named to the second team.

Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, the NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in the state and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.

The NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, softball, and baseball.
