HARRISONBURG, Va. – Elon University women's tennis dropped its regular season finale at James Madison, 6-1, on Saturday, April 14, at Hillside Courts.

Montana Moore was the highlight for the Phoenix as she picked up the team's lone point with a victory at the No. 6 singles position. Elon falls to 13-12 overall with the loss, while James Madison improves to 19-3 on the season with the victory.
"It's not the way we wanted to end the regular season, but this match is a good learning experience for us," said head coach
Elizabeth Anderson. "We had to make some lineup changes without
Olivia Lucas today, but I am especially proud of the way Montana [Moore] came in and competed. We will take the experience we gained from this match and continue to prepare for the CAA Championships back at home next weekend."
HIGHLIGHTS
James Madison claimed the 1-0 lead after doubles action. Elizabeth Norman and Abby Amos could clinch the point at the No. 1 position with a 6-3 victory. After the point was clinched,
Erica Braschi and
Montana Moore battled to a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles but fell 7-6 (8-6) to James Madison duo of Jona Roka and Dylan Owens.

In singles action, Moore knotted up the score with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 position against Diane Flament to level the score. James Madison would respond with five straight singles wins to earn the 6-1 victory.

Emma Petersen clinched the match for the Dukes at the No 4 position with a 6-3, 6-2 win over
Alex Koniaev.
Maria Paraja fought hard in her match forcing a third set, but fell 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to Jona Roka on court three.

The Phoenix will get set to host the 2018 CAA Tennis Championships at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The women's championships will start on Thursday, April 19 with play concluding on Sunday, April 22.Â
