ELON, N.C. – Every Monday, Phoenix fans can get a look at the week ahead with our "Elon Athletics Weekly Update" feature when we will preview all the week's upcoming events for our sports teams.

• Elon picked up a key CAA series win at UNCW over the weekend. After dropping game one by a 6-5 margin, the Phoenix grabbed 6-2 and 4-0 victories in the final two games. The Saturday win marked the first for Elon at UNCW since May of 2010, while Sunday's shutout was the first time Elon had blanked the Seahawks in 66 all-time meetings.
• The Phoenix has now played 16 one-run games this year, the most ever under skipper Mike Kennedy. Elon is 8-8 in those games.
• In Friday's game at UNCW, sophomore pitcher Kyle Brnovich established a new program single-season record for strikeouts. Brnovich fanned three hitters, giving him 114 on the year, surpassing the mark of 113 set by Ronnie Johnson in 1977. Brnovich also moved into ninth on the program's career strikeouts chart with 217, moving ahead of Kyle Webb (215 from 2010-13).

• The Phoenix closes out its regular season this week with a visit to Delaware for a three-game Colonial Athletic Association set on Friday and Saturday.
• Elon is coming off a series sweep versus Drexel last weekend, moving to fifth overall in the league standings at 7-11. The Phoenix will look to officially clinch a spot for the five-team CAA Tournament this weekend.
• Senior Kara Shutt became the CAA's all-time career leader in doubles this season as the Greensboro, N.C., native picked up the 61st of her career versus Drexel on Sunday. Shutt moved past James Madison's Erica Field (2013-16) on the league's all-time career list and has 20 doubles on the season, one shy of tying her own single-season school record.

• With the regular season complete, Elon will head to this weekend's conference tournament as the No. 3 seed and will take on second-seeded Towson for the third-straight CAA Semifinal. 
• Stephanie Asher finished the regular season second in the CAA for draw controls with 71 throughout Elon's 14 contests. Her 5.0 per contest leads the CAA and is 39th in the nation. 
• Elon meets Towson in the CAA Semifinals for the third-straight season with both teams taking a victory in the first two meetings. In 2016, Towson took an 8-6 win in Philadelphia before Elon earned a 10-9 overtime victory on Towson's home field in 2017 to reach its first-ever conference tournament final. 
 
Women's Track & Field
Elon at CAA Outdoor Championships | Friday-Saturday, April 4-5 | Williamsburg, Va.
• Elon travels to William & Mary for the 2018 CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday. The Phoenix will look to compete for its third league title in the last four seasons.
• Last year, the Phoenix finished as the runner-up at the CAAs to Towson after scoring 158 points at the league championships. Among individual conference champions last season, Emily Dixon returns to seek her fourth straight heptathlon title. 
• A few members of the Elon distance team competed at the UVA Grand Prix last Saturday, April 28, in Charlottesville, Va. Gabriela Varisco de Oliveira ran a new personal-record time of 2:11.62 in the 800-meters at the meet – the fourth-fastest time in school history.
