ELON, N.C. – Every Monday, Phoenix fans can get a look at the week ahead with our "Elon Athletics Weekly Update" feature when we will preview all the week's upcoming events for our sports teams.
 
Baseball (28-20, 10-8 CAA)

• The Phoenix is just one strikeout away from matching the program's all-time record for strikeouts in a season on the mound. Elon has fanned 490 hitters so far this year. The mark of 491 was established last season.
• Sophomore Kyle Brnovich continues to lead the nation in strikeouts, as he extended his program single-season record for K's to 124 by striking out 10 hitters in a win at Delaware on Friday.
• Beginning with Tuesday's game against High Point, Elon will play seven of its final eight regular season games at Latham Park.
     
Softball (24-28, 7-14 CAA)
Season complete.
• Elon saw its 2018 campaign come to a close this past weekend at Delaware, as the Phoenix fell a game outside of claiming a spot in the CAA Tournament after its series defeat against the Blue Hens.
• Senior Kara Shutt finished her career with the second-highest single-season hit total in school history (74) while tying her own single-season record in doubles with 21. The Greensboro, N.C., native also finished the season with a .425 average, the highest in a single season in school history at the Division I level.
• Fellow senior Hannah Olson posted the highest single-season batting average for her career at .387 while also leading the Phoenix in RBI with 36. She and Shutt combined for 37 of the teams 71 doubles this year.
        
Women's Lacrosse (4-11, 3-2 CAA)
Season complete
• Elon's season closed last Friday night with a two-goal loss in the CAA Semifinals to second-seeded and sixth-ranked Towson in Harrisonburg, Va.
• For the third year in a row, Elon and Towson have now met in the CAA Semifinals with all three games decided by a total of five goals. This time around, Towson took a 9-4 lead in the second half, but Elon came storming back to make it 9-7 with eight minutes to play before the Tiger defense settled back in with neither side able to score again in the contest.
• Stephanie Asher finishes her Elon career with 179 goals and 211 points. Both are program records. The Glenelg, Md., native also had 76 draw controls this season, which is the most in a campaign in program history. 
 
Women's Track & Field
Elon at ECAC Outdoor Championships | Saturday-Sunday, May 12-13 | Princeton, N.J.
Elon at Mount Olive Final Qualifier | Sunday, May 13 | Mount Olive, N.C.
• The Phoenix will compete at a couple of last chance meets this weekend at the ECAC Outdoor Championships at Princeton University and at Mount Olive in order to earn select athletes a chance to qualify for the NCAA East Regional meet.
• Elon finished as the runner-up for the second-straight season at the CAA Championships this past weekend at William & Mary. The Phoenix scored 148.5 points, only behind champion Northeastern, who had 150 points. Elon had five individual champions at the CAAs, as well as 11 All-CAA performers.
• Junior Coralea Geraniotis stood out for the Phoenix at the CAAs, as the Orleans, Mass., native won two individual championships in the 10,000- and 5,000-meter races. Other notable achievements and Phoenix champions include Emily Dixon, who took her fourth-straight league heptathlon title and became just the seventh athlete in CAA history to four-peat as a champion. Melissa Anastasakis (1,500-meters) and Bryanna Hames (discus) also took CAA medalist honors on the weekend.
