HIGH POINT, N.C. – Despite creating a flurry of chances outshooting High Point 25-12, Elon University women's soccer's contest against the Panthers ended as a 0-0 draw on Friday night, Aug. 31, at Vert Stadium.

The Phoenix moves to 1-1-3 overall with the draw. High Point's record becomes 1-3-1 this season after the scoreless tie.

HIGHLIGHTS
Elon nearly got on the board in seventh minute, but
Taylor Paradoski's attempt hit the post.
Ashley Rumley put another shot on frame for the Phoenix in the 40th minute, forcing High Point goalkeeper Emily Lyon to make a save.

High Point's three best chances in the first half came in the 17th, 18th and 43rd minutes. Elon goalkeeper
Valentina Estrada made a save on the first, and a Phoenix defender blocked the next two Panther attempts. The Phoenix and Panthers were unable to find the net in the first half and the score was 0-0 at the break.

The Phoenix hit the woodwork once again to start the second half as a
Lily Harkes' effort hit the crossbar in the 55th minute.
Kara Kimberl created another chance for Elon in the 63rd minute, but Talia Klimes, who subbed in for Lyon, was there for the save for the Panthers. Klimes would deny the Phoenix again just seven minutes later making a save on
Tori Baliatico's shot.

Makenzie DePriest-Kessler and Harkes put shots on frame in the 76th and 78th minutes respectively, but the match would head to overtime with the score at 0-0.

Elon would outshoot High Point 11-2 in the two overtime periods combined, but couldn't find the back of the net as the match ended as a scoreless draw. The Phoenix has a massive edge in shots 25-12 and owned a 4-3 advantage in corners for the match. Estrada made three saves to earn the shutout for the Phoenix.

- The Phoenix has now battled to three draws this season, including two 0-0 draws.
- Elon earned its second shutout of the season and its first since its 0-0 draw against UNCG on Aug. 19 at Rudd Field.
