• In its home opener Saturday, Elon defeated No. 21 Furman 45-7 for the largest win over a nationally-ranked team since the program transitioned to the FCS level.
• The 38-point victory in Elon's first game of the year surpasses Elon's total margin of victory in eight wins last season. A year ago, Elon won eight games by a combined 31 points.
• McAllister Ingram set a new career high with 11 tackles in the contest. He set the tone for the day with a forced fumble on the second play of the game that was scooped by Greg Liggs, Jr. and taken to the house for six less than one minute into the game.
• Of note, Elon Football Live on Thursday at Grill 584 has been cancelled due to the forecasted impact of Hurricane Florence. 
 
Cross Country
Elon at Winthrop/adidas Invitational | Saturday, Sept. 15 | 9:15 a.m. | Rock Hill, S.C.
• The Phoenix cross country programs return to the course to compete at the 2018 Winthrop/adidas Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 15. It will be the second meet of the season for the maroon and gold after its season-opening meet at the Elon Opener on Aug. 31.
• The 2018 season started for the Phoenix with its annual home meet, the Elon Opener, on Aug. 31. The maroon and gold women finished fourth overall at the meet with 83 points while the men was fifth with 135 points as both teams competed without some of its top runners in the races.
• A pair of first-year athletes led the Phoenix on both sides for the Phoenix at the Elon Opener. Hannah Preeo was the top female finisher for Elon with a time of 14:50 and seventh overall in the 4K race. Fellow freshman Andrew Miller came across first for the maroon and gold men with his time of 19:46 and was 23rd overall.
 
Men's Golf
Elon at The Invitational at the Ocean Course | Sunday-Tuesday, Sept. 9-11 | Kiawah Island, S.C.
• The Phoenix has began 2018-19 campaign this week as it competed at The Invitational at the Ocean Course, hosted by College of Charleston at The Ocean Course this week.
• Elon comes into the new season bringing back seven competitors from last season, including First Team All-CAA honoree Quade Lukes.
• The team also infuses four talented newcomers into the fold for the 2018-19 season in Josef Dransfeld, Cristian Del Vecchio, Dawson Daniels and St. Mary's College transfer Max Ferrari.
• Dransfeld qualified and competed in the 2018 U.S. Men's Amateur Championships, Aug. 13-19, at Pebble Beach. Additionally, Del Vecchio also qualified as a second alternate for the 2018 U.S. Men's Amateur Championships.
• Elon finished with top-five finishes in eight of its 11 tournaments last season. The 2017-18 campaign was highlighted by the Phoenix Invitational team title, Oct. 16-17, 2017, at Alamance Country Club.

• The Phoenix will host its first regular-season home match on Tuesday in welcoming Charlotte to Rudd Field. The program will also host Hometown Heros Night with the first 100 fans receiving a free t-shirt.
• Elon is coming off a 2-1 victory at fellow Triad-rival High Point on Saturday, Sept. 8. Asger Hausted Andersen and Luke Matthews scored for the Phoenix, with Matthews' goal being the eventual game-winner to help Elon to push its unbeaten streak versus High Point to five games.
• Iñigo Bronte was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 3, for his outstanding performance in the Phoenix's 8-1 win at Rutgers last Sunday, Sept. 2. The Pamplona, Spain, native scored a hat trick for the Phoenix in that contest and also had an assist.
• The Phoenix was receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll that was posted last Tuesday, Sept. 4. Five of the Phoenix's 17 regular-season opponents are either ranked or receiving votes in the coaches' poll. That number includes three teams currently ranked in the top-10 (No. 2 Duke, No. 8 UNCW and No. 10 Virginia).
 
Women's Golf
William & Mary Invitational | Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 8-9 | Williamsburg, Va.
• The Phoenix opened its 2018-19 campaign this weekend at the William & Mary Invitational at Kingsmill Resort. Elon completes the tournament with its final round on Monday.
• Elon has nine returners from last season's team that posted three top-five finishes. The team's key loss this season from the 2017-18 campaign is All-CAA honoree Heather Munro.
• The maroon and gold also brings in five new freshmen in Cosette Anderson, Meghan Fahey, Faith Francioso, Sidney Kadlic and Sophia Mancuso. 
• Senior Katherine Reilly qualified for and competed at the 2018 U.S. Women's Amateur Championships last month from Aug. 6-12 at the Golf Club of Tennessee.

• The Phoenix returns to Rudd Field to complete the non-conference portion of its schedule this week with matches against Radford and Davidson.
• Women's soccer's win against Richmond on Sept. 2, was the 300th win in program history.
• The team has now posted three shutouts thus far, which ranks tied for second in the league this season.
• Junior forward Taylor Paradoski (CAA Player of the Week), sophomore goalkeeper Valentina Estrada (CAA Defensive Player of the Week) and freshman midfielder Lily Harkes (CAA Rookie of the Week) have earned weekly honors from the league this season.

• Though Elon had its winning streak snapped at seven to start the year, Elon stands 8-2 on the year heading into its final week of tournament play before CAA action gets started. 
• Over the weekend, Kam Terry came one kill shy of matching the program record for most kills in a match, finishing with 32 against Georgia Southern. It marks the most in a match to date since Elon became a Division I program and it's the second-most in a match in program history. 
• Elon will face its second and third Power 5 programs this week in a span of five matches in taking on Duke and Kansas. Last week, Elon fell to Wake Forest 3-0.
