ELON, N.C. – Standing a perfect 7-0 to start a season for the first time since 2009, Elon University volleyball will put its perfect record on the line Friday, Sept. 7, and Saturday, Sept. 8, when it visits Winston-Salem, N.C., for the Wake Forest Invitational. On Friday, Elon will battle the Demon Deacons at 5 p.m. before going up against Akron and Georgia Southern on Saturday at 1:30 and 5 p.m., respectively.

SERIES HISTORY
-vs. Wake Forest: In 25 meetings to date, Wake Forest owns a 15-10 advantage over Elon. Wake Forest has been the dominant team in the series of late, winning 13 of the last 15 matchups between the two programs.
-vs. Akron: Having met only once, Elon and Akron will battle for the second time with the first meeting coming back in 2005, a 3-0 Akron win.
-vs. Georgia Southern: Elon and Georgia Southern will meet for the 17th time on Saturday with the Eagles owning a 13-3 lead in the series. Georgia Southern has won each of the last seven meetings, all coming when Elon was a member of the Southern Conference. 

LAST TIME OUT
-Elon took the Phoenix Classic title for the third-straight year in beating Gardner-Webb on Saturday night in Schar Center. 
-Leah Daniel had the best showing of her young career with a team-best 18 kills with just four errors for a .350 hitting percentage.
-Kam Terry also had a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs in the match on the way to being named Phoenix Classic MVP.

PERFECT STARTS
-Under head coach Mary Tendler, Elon is 7-0 through its first seven matches for the fifth time in program history. Last time Elon was unbeaten through this many matches was in 2009 when Elon was 11-0 to start.
-The 7-0 start is the second-best streak to start a season for the Phoenix under Tendler, surpassing 5-0 starts in 2010 and 2011. 
-Susan Leonard's 1993 team owns the program's best start to a season at 21-0. The 1994 team opened 12-0 to place second with Tendler's 2009 team having the third-longest streak to start a season.
-On one other occasion was Elon 7-0 to start a season before a loss. That came in 1974 when Kay Yow's squad opened perfect through seven matches before suffering its first defeat. 

ALL-TOURNEY TEAMS
-Maddie Jaudon was named Co-MVP of the Charlotte Invitational after averaging 4.92 digs per set over the course of the three matches. She was also named to the Phoenix Classic All-Tournament Team.
-Kellyn Trowse was also named to the All-Tournament Team after posting two matches with double-digit kills with at least seven digs and three blocks in all three matches.
-Kam Terry was named the Phoenix Classic MVP for the second-straight season after posting a pair of double-doubles against Evansville and Gardner-Webb.
-Leah Daniel earned a spot on the Phoenix Classic All-Tournament Team after closing the weekend with an 18-kill, 4-error performance for a .350 hitting percentage against Gardner-Webb. 

CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
-For her stellar efforts in four matches against North Carolina A&T, Evansville, N.C. Central and Gardner-Webb, Kam Terry was named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 3, after averaging 4.23 kills per set for the week with a .296 hitting percentage. 

1K Kills
-Kam Terry reached 1,000 kills for her career in the first set against Charlotte on Friday, Aug. 24.
-The senior from Marengo, Ohio, is now just 32 kills away from reaching the program's Top 10 chart for the category.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
-Kodi Garcia was named one of 10 student-athletes to the Preseason All-CAA Team as an honorable mention.
-It marks the second straight season an Elon player has been named a preseason honorable mention after Sydney Busa earned the distinction and went on to be a First Team All-CAA honoree after the year in 2017.
-Garcia had 1,279 assists in 2017, tying for the most in a season in Elon's Division I era and the second-most in program history on the way to earning CAA Rookie of the Year.

ITALIAN MADE
-Over Spring Break 2018, Elon volleyball went to Italy to visit Milan, Como, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence, Assisi and Rome.
-During the trip, the team visited Lake Como, the tiny villages that form the Five Lands "Cinque Terre," the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Basilica of Saint Francis, the Colosseum, the Vatican City and more.
-It also battled a pair of professional Italian volleyball teams.

THE SYDEL CURRY LOCKER ROOM
-Between the second and third sets Tuesday, Aug. 28, against North Carolina A&T, Elon volleyball's locker room was named in honor of Sydel Curry '17.
-An early wedding gift from her brothers, Steph and Seth Curry, the team's new locker room has officially been named the Sydel Curry Locker Room. Sydel walked down the isle four days later in North Carolina. 

UP NEXT
-Set for a mid-week matchup, Elon will travel to Durham on Wednesday, Sept. 12, for a 6:30 p.m. contest inside Cameron Indoor Stadium against the Duke Blue Devils.
