• The Phoenix faces its travel partner William & Mary on Saturday afternoon in Williamsburg, Va., for its lone conference game this week. Elon dropped two close contests this past week with an overtime loss to CAA preseason favorite Northeastern on Thursday and a narrow 74-71 loss to league-leader Hofstra on Saturday.
• Tyler Seibring, who is averaging 16.3 points per game this season, enters Saturday's game with 1,576 points and is three points away from entering the Top 10 on the program's all-time scoring list. He is 11th all-time in scoring and is only one of 12 players in program history to score 1,500 career points.
• Steven Santa Ana leads the Phoenix in both scoring (16.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg) this season. His scoring average currently ranks 6th in the CAA.
• Before the Phoenix takes on Williams & Mary this week, make sure you tune in or attend Elon Basketball Live Radio Show on Monday night at 6 p.m. This year's show will take place every Monday night at Grill 584 in Burlington for the rest of conference play.

• The Phoenix opened its spring season on Saturday night with a narrow 4-3 loss to Duke in Durham. 
• Elon won the doubles point to take the early 1-0 advantage and held a 3-2 lead late in singles action. The Blue Devils would go on to win on courts four and one for the comeback victory.
• This season, Elon returns seven from the 2017-18 season, led by 2018 CAA Player of the Year and three-time First Team All-CAA honoree Felipe Sarrasague and Second Team All-CAA honoree Mario Paccini. Additionally, the Phoenix added two newcomers to the squad in Dino Bonetta and Maxwell Zucker.
• Elon, which posted a 16-8 dual-match record in 2018 and ended its season in the CAA Championship semifinals, also earned a No. 9 spot in the final ITA Carolina Region poll for the second time in the last three seasons.
• The Phoenix will play its first home matches of the year on Monday, Jan. 21, with a doubleheader against Appalachian State and North Carolina A&T at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

• The Phoenix face William & Mary in its lone contest this week on Sunday. The game against the Tribe begins a three-game road swing for the maroon and gold.
• Elon split its games over the weekend, earning a victory versus College of Charleston on Friday in its Colonial Athletic Association home opener at Schar Center. The Phoenix would later fall to UNCW on Sunday afternoon. 
• Sophomore Emily Maupin posted big numbers in both games last week for the Phoenix. The Charlottesville, Va., native averaged 22.0 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 21-of-30 (.700) from the floor. The capped off her weekend with a career-best 26 points versus UNCW on Sunday and also added 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
• Junior Lexi Mercer was also impressive as the Goldsboro, N.C., native averaged 18.0 points per game while hitting nine threes versus the Cougars and the Seahawks, going 9-of-18 overall. Mercer tied her career-high with 19 points versus CofC and had a personal-best five made three-pointers against UNCW.

• Elon dropped its season opener against the No. 3-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels 6-1 on Saturday. Olivia Archer earned an impressive win at the No. 6 singles position for her first-career dual match win.
• The Phoenix returns six players from a 2017-18 team that posted a 14-13 dual match record and ended its season falling to eventual 2018 CAA Champion William & Mary 4-2 in the semifinals of the CAA Championships at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. 
• Highlighting the returners are All-CAA doubles honorees Maria Paraja and Alex Koniaev, as well as Suzanne Zenoni, who finished with a team-best 16-8 singles record. Additionally, the Phoenix infused three newcomers for 2018-19 in Olivia Archer, Uma Nayar and Nicole Shiau.
• The Phoenix returns the the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Wednesday, Jan. 16, to host its home-opening doubleheader against North Carolina A&T and N.C. Central. The matches were originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 14, but postponed to Wednesday, Jan. 16, due to freezing temperatures.
 
Women's Track and Field
Elon at Wake Forest Invitational | Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 19-20 | Winston-Salem, N.C.
• The Phoenix returns to indoor competition this week at the Wake Forest Invitational this weekend, Jan. 19-20, inside the JDL Fast Track Complex.
• Elon last competed on Dec. 2, opening its indoor season at the JDL College Kickoff. Elon had a few standout performances at the meet including Top 10 finishes in the shot put for  junior Skylar Barthelmes and freshman Kristine Strazdite. 
• Members of the Phoenix distance group are scheduled to compete for their first indoor action this season. Among some of the standout distance runners slated to compete includes senior Coralea Geraniotis, the 2018 CAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year, and junior Melissa Anastasakis, who also garnered All-CAA accolades during the cross country season.
