ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's soccer fell to 11-5-2 overall and 5-3-1 in conference play after losing to Northeastern 4-0 on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Prior to this game, the Phoenix clinched a berth into the upcoming CAA Tournament beginning Nov. 3. Elon will be the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will face No. 4 Northeastern in a rematch of Sunday's contest.
HIGHLIGHTS
Defense was the story of the first half for both sides with neither team allowing a goal. The Phoenix made the play of the opening half when
Taylor Paradoski fired a rocket in the 36
th minute that just barely hit the crossbar to keep Elon off the board.
Northeastern scored the match's opening goal in the 58
th minute when Mikenna McManus found the back of the net. The play put the Huskies up 1-0 early in the second half.
McManus added her second goal of the contest in the 62
nd minute to extend Northeastern's lead to 2-0.
The Huskies scored their third goal of the contest in the 75
th minute when Chelsea Domond snuck a shot past Elon's defense and into the back of the net.
Northeastern scored the final goal of the game in the 83
rd minute when Ashley Reuter received a corner kick from Tatiana Ortega and scored from inside the 18-yard box.
Katrin Hauksdottir made two saves in goal for the Phoenix, moving her season total to 53 saves.

Elon travels to Hempstead, N.Y. to kick-off the CAA Women's Soccer Championship against Northeastern on Friday, Nov. 1. That match is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
