ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball is back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 20 for an 8:30 p.m. matchup with No. 5 North Carolina on the road. The game will be broadcast live on Regional Sports Networks with the contest airing on FOX Sports South locally.

Taylor Durham and Brian Morris will have the call from Smith Center, with the pregame show beginning at 8 p.m.
THE MATCHUP
• This will be the 25
th time that Elon and North Carolina have met in a regular season contest, with Elon trailing the series 20-4.
• Elon fell to North Carolina 116-67 in the two programs' last meeting on Nov. 9, 2018.
ABOUT ELON
• So far this season, Elon is off to a 2-2 start with both wins on the year coming at Schar Center.
• Elon's two victories this season have come by a combined 47 points – six vs. Mars Hill and 41 vs. Milligan.
• The Phoenix is led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield who is posting 17.3 points per game to go along with 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest.

Federico Poser are combining to average 19.6 points and to 6.8 rebounds per outing.

Simon Wright leads the team in rebounding at 7.3 per game, adding 7.3 points per game as well.
• Elon defeated Mars Hill 90-84 in its season opener to secure the first win under the direction of
Mike Schrage.
• Elon is led by first year head coach
Mike Schrage, who spent two seasons as an assistant at Ohio State before becoming Elon's head coach. He also spent time as an assistant coach at Butler and Stanford after time on staff at Duke.
• The Phoenix has no seniors on the roster with the exception of graduate transfer Marcus Sheffield, who earned a Preseason All-CAA honorable mention.
• Additionally, the Phoenix made six new additions to the squad for 2019-20 in first-year players

Zac Ervin and
Ben Daugherty, while also adding two transfers in Marcus Sheffield (Stanford) and
Jerald Gillens-Butler (Butler).
• Elon's two losses on the season have come against Power 5 opponents in Georgia Tech and Michigan.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2019-20
• Elon's 107th season of basketball continues this Wednesday, Nov. 20, when the Elon Phoenix travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the program's fifth game under head coach
Mike Schrage.
• Following that contest, the Phoenix will return home for the first time in two weeks for a Saturday, Nov. 23
, matchup with Manhattan at Schar Center at 4 p.m.
• During its non-conference slate, the Phoenix plays host to six home contests, which includes a four game homestand against Manhattan, Furman, UT Arlington and Kennesaw State that begins this weekend.
• Elon opens CAA play with a home contest against William & Mary on Dec. 30.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
• The Tar Heels are off to a 3-0 start this season after defeating Notre Dame, UNCW and Gardner-Webb respectively.
• North Carolina is in its 17
th season under head coach Roy Williams, who has over 850 wins in his career and has coached the Tar Heels to three national titles since 2005.
• The Tar Heels are led by freshman guard Cole Anthony, who is averaging 27.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
