ELON, N.C. - The Elon University Dance Team will be holding tryouts for the 2019-20 team on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13, 2019. The location for the tryout will be located inside Schar Center (542 North Williamson Avenue, Elon, N.C., 27244). Please enter the arena at the back entrance of the building.
 
Registration for the dance tryouts will begin at 5:30 p.m. on April 12. The tryout will begin at 6 p.m. and will focus on technique and a dance we will teach. The final audition will be on Saturday afternoon.
 
Tryouts are open to any current Elon student as well as anyone who will be enrolling at Elon next year. The tryouts will require high kick combinations, switch/side/ leaps (and more), disc, calypso, toe touch (double), extension, leg holds and turns, ponche, triple/quad pirouettes, fouettes, acro skills, etc.
 
Those trying out should wear a black crop top/sports bra and black short dance/jazz shorts. Dance shoes are required.  shoes are personal preference, sneakers are suggested for hip hop dance. No jewelry, with the exception of stud earrings should be worn. Hair and makeup should be "game day" ready (with hair out of face).
 
For those unable to attend the April tryout, we will accept video or DVD auditions but they must be in the coach's inbox BEFORE the April 12 tryout. The team will be announced after the Saturday tryout. There will be a team meeting following the announcement.
