ELON, N.C. – Continuing Elon University University's dedication to enhance the student-athlete experience, the men's and women's soccer, men's cross country and football programs are set for study abroad experiences from Saturday, March 23, to Saturday, March 30.
Â
Over Spring Break, the men's soccer program will visit Portugal and Spain while the men's cross country team will visit England. Though on separate trips, football and women's soccer will visit Costa Rica. All four experiences will be led by faculty members and are designed to allow student-athletes to explore and learn about the native culture and history of these foreign countries.
Â
The four programs become the latest to travel abroad as part of the Elon Commitment to diversity and global engagement for its students. With men's cross country making the trip to England, every Elon Athletics program has now participated in a study abroad trip as part of the Elon Commitment.
Â
"We have taken great pride over the years here at Elon in becoming the leading institution for undergraduate study abroad," said Elon Director of Athletics
Dave Blank. "This is one of the high priorities for our institution and we are thrilled to have developed a program in which all 17 of our teams have the chance to study abroad during their four years here at Elon. Our commitment to study abroad is one of many facets that makes being a student-athlete at Elon so special and we're excited to consistently give our athletes this life-changing opportunity."
Â
Throughout each trip, members of the teams will share their experiences on social media. Updates will also be provided on elonphoenix.com.
