• Led by first-year head coach Tony Trisciani, Elon football will open its 2019 campaign on Saturday, Aug. 31, on the road against No. 19 North Carolina A&T.
• Picked fourth in the CAA, Elon is chasing its third-straight appearance in the FCS Playoffs after reaching the last 24 each of the last two seasons in 2017 and 2018. 
• Jaylan Thomas and Matt Foster were both selected to the Preseason All-CAA Football team with Davis Cheek and Greg Liggs, Jr. both selected as honorable mentions.
• Season tickets for Elon's five home games are on sale now. This fall, Elon will host four teams that are nationally ranked in the preseason polls in The Citadel, James Madison, Delaware and Maine while hosting William & Mary for Homecoming on Nov. 2.
   
Cross Country
Elon vs. Elon Opener
Friday, Aug. 30 | Elon Cross Country Course | 8:15 p.m.
• The Phoenix cross country programs open their 2019 campaign with the sixth annual Elon Opener on Friday, Aug. 30, at its home cross country course. The meet is scheduled to have nine teams in competition with the races kicking off at 8:15 p.m. with the women's 4K.
• The Elon women finished as the runner up at the CAA Championships last season and returns All-CAA performer in senior Melissa Anastasakis to lead the Phoenix female harriers. The Hillsdale, Ontario, native has been an All-CAA choice in each of her first three seasons at Elon.
• On the men's side, the Phoenix finished third overall at last year's CAA Championship. Sophomore Andrew Miller earned All-CAA accolades during his rookie campaign and led the Phoenix in the majority of the team's races last year.

• The Elon men's soccer team opens the 2019 season for the seventh straight season at the John Rennie/Nike Invitational hosted by Duke University. The Phoenix faces CSU Bakersfield to open the tournament before facing former conference foe Furman in its finale.
• The Phoenix returns five starters from a season ago including a pair of All-CAA performers. Luke Matthews was named first team All-CAA in 2018 and was a 2019 Preseason All-CAA choice. Iñigo Bronte was a second team All-CAA choice from his striker position after leading the Phoenix in points (13) and goals (six) in 2018.
• Matthews returns as team captain while fellow seniors Caner Snover, John Walden and Josh Blank were also anointed captains for this season.

• Coming off a perfect 2-0 opening weekend, Elon will hit the road this weekend for contests against Radford and Furman.
• Across two preseason games and two regular-season outings, Elon has not yet allowed a goal. In regular-season play, it's defeated Canisius 1-0 in overtime on opening night and High Point 1-0 to close the weekend on Sunday.
• Bethany Harford was named CAA Rookie of the Week after scoring the game-winner in overtime against Canisius.

• Elon starts the 2019 season on the road as the team plays at the Robert Morris Sheraton Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 30-31.
• This weekend marks just the second time the Phoenix will compete in the invite. The maroon and gold went 3-1 in Moon Township on Sept. 12-13, 2008, earning wins over the host Colonials, Youngstown State, and St. Peter's.
• The Phoenix was picked to finish eighth in the CAA's Preseason Poll, released last Wednesday, Aug. 21.
• The team brings back 10 student-athletes from its 14-member team in 2018 - including four starters - and will be led by captains Nori Thomas and Isabella Seman. Kellyn Trowse, who was a 2018 CAA All-Rookie selection, seeks to build off of a strong freshman campaign while Kodi Garcia looks to climb up the program's career leaders list after eclipsing 2,000 career assists last season.
• Elon has five newcomers in Alex VanWestrienen, Jenn Krzeminski, Mikayla Azcue, Jordan Gower, and Claire Richey.
