ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball and head coach
Mike Schrage announced the signing of Sam Sherry on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Â
"We have loved talking with Sam and getting to know both him and his family from the very first phone call," Schrage stated. "He is a mature young man who has such a bright future both on and off the court. Sam's best basketball is certainly ahead of him. He grew later and has maintained his guard skills especially for his size. He fits our style of play perfectly with his skill set, length, and versatility. He has been very well coached, and we are honored to be the next step in his journey."
Â
A 6-9 forward out of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Sherry was named the Most Improved Player at Cumberland Valley High School last season. The Mid-Penn Conference Big 15 All-Star didn't stop there, as he also took home the 2020 Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball 3-Star Award this past season.
Â
Additionally, Sherry received Donofrio Classic Raw Sports, Prep Scene Fab15 and Hoop Group Elite Camp All-Star honors in 2020. Off the court, the PIAA Mid-Penn All-Conference honoree was named as a Hoop Group Elite Camp Academic All-Star following last season.
Â
Sherry is set to join the Phoenix men's basketball program in the fall of 2021.
