ELON, N.C. – Elon University volleyball looks to continue its strong start to conference play this weekend as the team travels to Towson for a pair of CAA matches on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2-3 at SECU Arena. Both matches are scheduled for 2 p.m. first serves.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- After earning a five-set victory over Delaware last Saturday, Elon defeated the Blue Hens in straight sets on Sunday to improve to 4-0 against CAA opponents.
- It marks the program's best start to conference play in its Division I history.
- With the win, Elon also pulled even in the all-time series at 7-7 and has now won five in a row versus the Blue Hens.

Leah Daniel leads Elon's attack with 205 kills and 222.5 points this season.
Sydney Love is second in kills with 106, and
Jenn Krzeminski is third with 87.
Haylie Clark owns 446 assists and Krzeminksi has served 18 aces.
Jordan Gower leads the back row with 210 digs,
Kellyn Trowse is at 100, and
Alex VanWestrienen is close behind Trowse with 96. Krzeminski has registered 55 blocks and
Natalie Cummins is next with 37.
- As a team, the Phoenix (9-5, 4-0 CAA) ranks second in the CAA in hitting percentage (.241) and kills per set (12.50) and ranks third in assists per set (11.35).
DANIEL REPEATS AS CAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- For the second time in as many weeks, Daniel was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 27.
- In the two matches against Delaware, the senior from Zionsville, Ind. scored 40.5 points (5.06/set) with 38 kills (4.75/set) and a .345 hitting percentage. She added 13 digs and five blocks to her weekly totals and has reached double-digit kills in seven consecutive matches.
- Daniel continues to lead the CAA in both total kills and kills per set (4.27).
THE SERIES
- The Tigers are ahead in the all-time series, 14-1.
- The two teams did not meet during the shortened spring 2021 season as the CAA was split into North and South divisions.
- Elon and Towson last met on Nov. 23, 2019 in the second round of the CAA Championship Tournament. It marked Elon's first appearance in the CAA Championship Semifinals.
- The Phoenix won the first set 25-19, but the top-seeded Tigers took the next three to advance to the Championship final. Towson then defeated No. 2 James Madison 3-0 to be crowned CAA champion.
SCOUTING TOWSON
- Towson, the two-time defending CAA Champion, was picked to finish first in the CAA Preseason Coaches' Poll with 7-of-9 first-place votes and 63 total points. Nina Cajic and Emily Jarome were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team while 2019 Rookie of the Year Lydia Wiers was selected as an Honorable Mention.
- The Tigers are 15-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play entering this weekend. The team's lone loss came in its CAA opener at Hofstra on Sept. 19 as Towson fell in five sets.
- Towson has four players with over 100 kills this season: Fay Bakodimou leads the team with 152, Cajic is next with 137, and Wiers and Jarome both have 121. Megan Wilson owns 335 assists and Kristin Spengler follows her with 233. Bakodimou also leads Towson's servers with 27 aces and Rachel Hess has served 20. On defense, Hess has a team-high 241 digs while Wiers and Nikiya Mitchell have recorded 64 and 52 blocks, respectively.
- The Tigers rank first in the league in hitting percentage (.303), opponent hitting percentage (.107), assists per set (12.40), kills per set (13.36) and blocks per set (2.65). Towson is also second in service aces per set (2.05) and fourth in digs per set (14.49).
