The host Tigers (15-2, 3-2 CAA) opened the match with five unanswered points and built an early 11-3 lead in the first set. Elon couldn't catch up after that, with
Sydney Love putting away a ball from
Jordan Gower to trim TU's lead at 23-18. However, Towson's Morgan Wilson scored back-to-back kills as the home team claimed the first set, 25-18.
In Set Two, a
Kellyn Trowse service ace capped off a 6-1 swing that gave the Phoenix (10-5, 5-0) an 11-6 lead. A pair of Towson attack errors and two kills from
Natalie Cummins created some separation at 16-12.
Julia Crabtree and Love then turned in a pair of kills as Elon closed out the set with a 5-0 run, tying the match at a set apiece.
Towson led the third set in the early going, but
Leah Daniel served back-to-back aces to tie the score at 12-12. Four kills from Love sparked a 7-1 run that put the maroon and gold in front, 20-15. Elon then sealed the set at 25-17 as
Haylie Clark served an ace and Cummins and Daniel followed with a pair of kills.
Elon fell behind 7-3 at the start of Set Four, but Clark assisted Cummins for a point and Daniel converted an attempt to pull even at 11-11. The Tigers grabbed the lead 23-21 thanks to a 6-0 run, but a Daniel kill and a block by Daniel and Cummins made it 23-23. The duo then recorded another two kills as the Phoenix sealed the four-set victory.
