Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Elon University volleyball picked up a win on the road as the Phoenix (14-9, 9-4 CAA) defeated William & Mary in straight sets on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Kaplan Arena.
"We were very happy to get a road win tonight, which is difficult to do in the CAA," said head coach
Mary Tendler. "We served really tough, enabling us to defend and get some good transition swings. Tomorrow will be even more challenging as William & Mary fights for the split."

THE RUNDOWN
The Tribe (3-13, 0-11) was ahead 9-7 in the first set when
Haylie Clark assisted
Jenn Krzeminski and
Natalie Cummins for back-to-back kills. After a bad set and an attack error by W&M,
Leah Daniel capped off the 5-0 run to give the Phoenix control, 12-9. The Tribe responded with five unanswered points of their own, but a Cummins kill, a solo block by
Kellyn Trowse and an ace from Clark allowed Elon to retake the lead at 15-14. Down the stretch, a pair of kills from Daniel and another from Krzeminski led to a 25-21 decision for the maroon and gold.
In Set Two, Elon jumped out to a 5-1 lead and never looked back. An 8-2 push extended the team's lead to 16-8. Two kills by Cummins and a block by Cummins and Trowse highlighted another 5-0 run that made it 24-12. W&M earned the next point, but
Sydney Love put away a ball from Clark for set point at 25-13.
With the third set locked at 5-5 early, Trowse scored a kill to open up an 11-2 swing. Both sides traded points the rest of the set, and Elon secured the victory with a 25-18 tally.
HIGHLIGHTS
Daniel scored a team-high 12 kills, Love and Trowse were next with eight kills each, Cummins followed with seven kills and Krzeminski added six kills. Clark collected 33 assists and served two aces, while
Alex VanWestrienen, Krzeminski and
Jordan Gower served one each. Trowse led the digging effort with seven, Gower was right behind her with six, and Daniel and Clark tallied five each. At the net, Krzeminski led both teams with five blocks, Trowse recorded four blocks and Love made two blocks.

- Elon extends its lead in the all-time series to 12-7.
- The Phoenix is now third in the CAA standings behind Towson and James Madison after JMU defeated Northeastern 3-0 earlier in the day.
- The match featured 15 ties and six lead changes. The first set saw 11 ties and five lead changes.
- As a team, the Phoenix hit for .410 while the Tribe hit for .217.
- Elon edged W&M in points (56.0-42.0), kills (43-36), assists (36-32), service aces (5-3), digs (35-27) and blocks (8-3).
- This was the ninth time this season the Phoenix has won in straight sets.

- Cummins swung for a .778 clip, the second-best hitting percentage of her career. She hit .800 in a 3-0 win at Delaware on Nov. 10, 2019.
