Volleyball Begins Play at the CAA Championship Tournament on Friday

TOWSON, M.D. – Elon University volleyball starts play at the 2021 CAA Championship Tournament presented by Primis this Friday, Nov. 19 in the second semifinal match, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The No. 2 seeded Phoenix (16-10, 11-5 CAA) awaits the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal match between third-seeded College of Charleston and sixth-seeded Hofstra.

Towson is hosting the three-day tournament at SECU Arena. The top-seeded Tigers will take on either No. 4 seed Delaware or No. 5 seed Northeastern on Friday at 4 p.m. The Championship Final is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start on Saturday, Nov. 20.

COVERAGE
Updates for the match will be provided on the team's Twitter account at @ElonVB. All CAA tournament matches will be streamed live on FloVolleyball, and live stats will also be available.

TICKETS
All-session tickets are priced at $25 for adults. Youth (5-17) and senior (65 and older) all-session tickets are available for $15. Single-day ticket prices are set for $10 for adults, $5 for youth (5-17) and $5 for seniors (65 and older). Student tickets are available for $5 with a valid school ID.

Tickets can be purchased online at Towson's TicketMaster site or by calling 1-855-TU-TIGER (1-855-888-4437). SECU Arena is general seating for women's volleyball.

Fans in attendance will be required to be masked when indoors.

SERIES HISTORY
Elon opened conference play at Charleston on Sept. 17-18, earning a pair of 3-1 wins over the Cougars (16-11, 9-7) at TD Arena. It marked the first time that the Phoenix defeated CofC twice in one season. Leah Daniel eclipsed 1,000 career kills in the second match and secured CAA Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts. The wins trimmed the Cougars' lead in the all-time series to 32-5.

The maroon and gold hosted the Pride (14-13, 8-8) on Nov. 5-6 to conclude the regular season. Elon earned a pair of straight-set victories against the visitors to clinch a first-round bye in the CAA Tournament. Hofstra holds a 10-4 lead in the all-time series.

CLARK, TENDLER HIGHLIGHT CAA POSTSEASON HONORS
Haylie Clark was named the CAA Setter of the Year and Head Coach Mary Tendler earned CAA Coach of the Year honors as the league announced its 2021 postseason honors on Wednesday, Nov. 17. Additionally, Daniel was selected to the All-CAA First Team, Jenn Krzeminski joined Clark on the All-CAA Second Team and Sydney Love garnered All-Rookie Team honors.

LAST TIME AT THE CAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Elon reached the CAA Championship Semifinals for the first time in program history in 2019 as the No. 5 Phoenix defeated No. 4 Northeastern, 3-2 on Friday, Nov. 22 at Hofstra's David S. Mack Physical Education Center. Elon then fell 3-1 to eventual champion Towson as Daniel was named to the All-Tournament Team.
