Volleyball Hosts Hofstra to Conclude the Regular Season

ELON, N.C. – Elon University volleyball wraps up the regular season at home this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6 as the Phoenix (14-10, 9-5 CAA) welcomes Hofstra for a pair of CAA matches at Schar Center. This weekend marks Homecoming for Elon.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- After a straight-set victory at William & Mary last Saturday, the Phoenix dropped a five-set battle to the Tribe on Sunday to split the CAA series.
- Saturday's 3-0 win marked the ninth time this season the Phoenix has won in straight sets.
- In the second meeting, Haylie Clark recorded a 33-assist, 11-dig double-double her fifth of the season. Also, Claire Richey tied her career high with seven blocks.
- With Towson defeating Delaware 3-2 on Sunday, the maroon and gold clinched a berth in the CAA Championship Tournament.
- Leah Daniel has tallied 345 kills to pace the offense this year. Sydney Love is second on the team with 202 kills and Jenn Krzeminski is third with 142. Clark enters the weekend with 812 assists and 28 aces, Alex VanWestrienen has served a team-high 30 aces, and Krzeminski is right behind them with 27 aces. On the other side of the net, Jordan Gower leads the back row with 354 digs while Krzeminski has recorded 100 blocks.
- Through matches on Nov. 3, Daniel leads the CAA in attacks per set (10.35), total attacks (890), kills per set (4.01), total kills and points (376.0). Additionally, Krzeminski is the league leader in total blocks.
- Elon is second in the league in hitting percentage (.245), kills per set (12.47) and assists per set (11.41).

CAREER LEADERS WATCHLIST
- Daniel now owns 1,194 career kills.
- She is nine away from tying Megan Crooks (1991-94) for eighth on the program's all-time kills leaders list.
- Velma Degree (1990-93) is Elon's all-time leader in kills with 1,461.
 
THE SERIES
- Hofstra leads the all-time series, 10-2.
- The sides split their two matches during the 2019 season, with both teams winning at home.
- The Phoenix opened conference play with a 3-1 win over the defending CAA Champions on Sept. 27, 2019. Daniel and Nori Thomas paced the Elon attack with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Kodi Garcia chipped in 28 assists, Clark also reached double-digit assists with 14, and Isabella Seman served four aces with 12 digs. Trowse was next in digs with 11, and Krzeminski racked up five blocks (two solo).
- Elon fell in four sets at Hofstra on Oct. 4 a few weeks later. Daniel led the Phoenix in the loss with 16 kills and Trowse was next with 11. Garcia reached 25 assists, Clark finished with 15 assists and 10 digs, and Gower served three aces to go along with a team-high 13 digs. Krzeminski recorded a career-best nine blocks (one solo) and Cummins added six.

SCOUTING HOFSTRA
- Hofstra received 26 points and was picked to finish tied for sixth in the CAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. Ana Martinovic garnered Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention honors.
- The Pride is currently fourth in the CAA standings at 13-10 overall and 7-5 in league play.
- Hofstra is coming off a pair of 3-1 wins over UNCW last weekend.
- Beatriz Alves was named the CAA's Rookie of the Week on Monday after averaging 11.38 assists, 1.38 digs and 1.25 kills per set versus the Seahawks. She finished Saturday's match with 45 assists, seven digs, four kills, two service aces and a pair of blocks. On Sunday, the freshman setter tallied 46 assists with six kills, four digs, two blocks and an ace. She ranks second in the CAA with 9.48 assists per set and has recorded 40 or more assists in eight matches this season.
- Martinovic leads the attack with 259 kills, Florencia Wolkowyski has 182, Zyare Abdul-Rahim is next with 171, and Athina Dimitriadis owns 128. Alves enter the weekend with 825 assists and a team-high 33 service aces. On defense, Chiara Cucco has registered 407 digs and Sarah Pierre leads the Pride with 94 blocks.
- As a team, the Pride ranks third in the league with 2.46 blocks per set and is fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.196), service aces per set (1.63) and digs per set (14.13).
