ELON, N.C. – Elon University volleyball opens conference play this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27 as the Phoenix heads to Williamsburg, Va. for a pair of 7 p.m. matches against William & Mary at Kaplan Arena.
THE SERIES
- Elon leads the all-time series 11-5 and has won 10 of the last 11 against the Tribe (0-0).
- The Phoenix won both meetings with William & Mary during the 2019 season. Elon earned a 3-1 victory at Schar Center on Oct. 20, then defeated the Tribe in straight sets in Williamsburg on Oct. 30.
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon opened its season this past Tuesday, Feb. 23 with a 3-1 loss to VCU at home.
- The maroon and gold took the opening set 26-24, but the visitors claimed the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-14.

Gabi Croll led the attack versus the Rams with 15 kills,
Leah Daniel and
Natalie Cummins both scored nine, and
Jenn Krzeminski finished with eight. Garcia tallied nine assists and
Isabella Seman chipped in a pair of service aces.
- Defensively,
Jordan Gower ended up with 23 digs while Krzeminski and Croll recorded four and three blocks, respectively.

Kodi Garcia eclipsed 2,800 career assists in the match.
- Elon will play the Rams again on March 24 in Richmond, Va.
SCOUTING THE TRIBE
- This weekend marks the start of the season for the Tribe.
- In an effort to limit travel, the CAA split the league into two divisions that will play in a round robin back-to-back format.
- Joining Elon and William & Mary in the south division are James Madison, UNCW and College of Charleston.
- The Tribe is returning 11 players from the 2019 season as well as newcomers in Sabrina Malcolm and Maddie Meyers.
-The team finished 2019 at 7-20 overall with a 3-13 mark in CAA play.
- W&M is playing an All-CAA schedule this season.
UP NEXT
- Elon returns to Schar Center on Saturday and Sunday, March 6-7 to host CAA opponent UNCW. The teams will play the first match at 5 p.m., with the second meeting scheduled for a 3 p.m. first serve.
