ELON, N.C. – Elon University volleyball continues conference play this Wednesday, March 24 as the team hosts James Madison for a 5 p.m. CAA match at Schar Center.

Live stats will be available, and the match will be streamed on the Elon Phoenix YouTube channel.
 
THE SERIES
- Elon is in search of its first win against JMU as the Dukes (5-1, 4-0 CAA) hold a 14-0 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 2007.
- JMU took both meetings in the 2019 season in straight sets.
- The last time the two sides met was on Nov. 8, 2019 in Harrisonburg, Va. Kellyn Trowse led Elon in that match as the Tampa, Fla. native posted a .217 clip with nine kills and nine digs. She also added an assist and a service ace. Leah Daniel followed with eight kills, three digs, and three blocks. Alum Nori Thomas scored eight kills, Kodi Garcia reached 15 assists and served one ace with six digs, and Haylie Clark added 13 assists with four digs. Isabella Seman recorded eight digs, and Natalie Cummins ended up with four blocks.
- The two programs were scheduled to meet for a pair of CAA matches on March 14-15 but the matches were postponed due to COVID-19 testing protocols within the Dukes program.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon is 4-3 overall with a 2-2 mark in conference play.
- The maroon and gold enters Wednesday on a four-match win streak. It's the team's longest since winning five straight from Oct. 14-24 during the 2018 season. Elon defeated William & Mary, North Carolina Central, UNCW, Delaware and William & Mary a second time during that stretch.
- As a team, the Phoenix is averaging 11.8 kills, 11.0 assists, 1.6 service aces, 14.5 digs and 1.7 blocks per set.
- Elon ranks third in the CAA in aces per set and total service aces (47).
- Daniel leads the team in scoring with 131.5 points and 121 kills (4.17/set). Clark owns 134 assists, Garcia is right behind her with 131, and VanWestrienen has a team-high 12 aces. Gower's 135 digs (4.66/set) pace the back row while four players have double-digit blocks. Krzeminksi has recorded 25, Cummins is at 18, Croll owns 13 and Clark is up to 11.
- Clark's two triple-doubles this season rank fourth in the country while VanWestrienen's 0.43 aces per set leads the conference.
 
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
- After opening the season with a 3-1 loss to Delaware, JMU has won five in a row.
- The Dukes are atop the CAA's South Division standings while Elon is currently third.
- JMU earned the league's other two weekly honors yesterday as Sophia Davis was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week and Miëtte Veldman the Rookie of the Week.
- Davis averaged 2.13 blocks per set in the team's pair of wins over Charleston last weekend. In match one, she tied a match-high with eight total blocks and also recorded three digs. Offensively she contributed nine kills as the Dukes won a closely-contested five-set match. Then the following day, Davis recorded a season-best nine total blocks, three of which were solos, in an effort that held the Cougars to a .049 hitting percentage. She rounded out her performance with a dig, nine kills and three assists. Davis currently ranks second in the CAA averaging 1.50 blocks per set a mark that sits eighth nationally.
- Veldman averaged 5.00 kills per set and hit a combined .292 in addition to 3.87 digs per set over the weekend series. In the first match, Veldman led all attackers with 23 kills and contributed 21 digs to record her third double-double of the year. She followed up the performance with a second consecutive double-double tallying 17 kills and 10 digs in a straight-set win over the Cougars. Veldman leads the Dukes with 4.00 kills per set and ranks fourth in the CAA this spring.
- As a team, JMU is averaging 12.5 kills, 11.8 assists, 1.3 aces, 15.2 digs and 2.8 blocks per set.
- The Dukes rank ninth in the nation in blocks per set.

PHOENIX PUSHES WIN STREAK TO FOUR
- After earning a pair of CAA victories over UNCW on March 6-7, the maroon and gold defeated UNC Greensboro 3-0 on March 18 and followed with a five-set win at home over Davidson on March 20.
- Last Thursday in Greensboro, N.C., Clark turned in a 17-assist, 13-dig double-double and Daniel paced the attack with 12 kills. Gabi Croll swung for a .316 clip and followed with eight kills, and Jenn Krzeminski hit .875 with seven kills. Ericka Link also reached double-digit assists with 10 and Alex VanWestrienen served four aces. On defense, Jordan Gower reached 13 digs while Krzeminski, Cummins and Croll all recorded two blocks.
- Last Saturday marked Senior Day for the Phoenix as the team hosted the Wildcats. Clark turned in her second triple-double of the season, Daniel scored a career-high 30 kills, and Gower recorded a career-high 33 digs. Clark swung for a .394 clip and finished the day with 14 kills, 18 assists and 12 digs. Daniel swung for .387 and added 14 digs for her second double-double of the season. Garcia contributed 31 assists with two service aces, and VanWestrienen also served a pair of aces with 15 digs. Gower added three assists and an ace and Krzeminski led the blocking effort with five.

CAA NAMES DANIEL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- The league office released its weekly honors on Monday and Daniel was selected the CAA's Offensive Player of the Week.
- The Zionsville, Ind. native averaged 5.25 kills and 2.75 digs per set through the two matches.
- She currently ranks second in the CAA with 121 total kills and is third with 4.17 kills per set.
