ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's soccer battled, but fell to VCU, 3-2, on Sunday, March 7.
"Pompeu was the difference between the teams. He was able to create and score three very good goals, and we did not convert on the clearer chances that we were able to create. It was good to have some players back available and the game intensity will have helped them be better prepared for the start of Conference play next week. VCU is a talented and well coached team, but I believe our group was every bit as good tonight. But you don't win many games that you give up three goals in, and we need to be better defensively even against a top-level player. We will have a focused week of practice and are excited to get to play at UNCW again."
