Elon Gets Back On Track With 6-1 Win Over Norfolk State

ELON, N.C. - Elon University women's tennis got back in the win column on Friday, March 25, defeating Norfolk State, 6-1, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Julie Ball got the ball rolling in singles play for Elon, finishing Breana Cook 6-3, 3-0 in the No. 4 slot before Cook retired. The win marked the third straight for Ball and moved her to 9-4 overall on the year and 8-4 in the No. 4 slot.
- Olivia Archer clinched the match for the Phoenix, taking down Laura Ruiz 6-2, 6-3 in No. 5 singles. The win was Archer's team-leading 11th of the season and her ninth win in her last ten outings.
- Lizette Reding picked up her seventh win on the year, defeating Amber Fuller 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 2 position. With the win Reding sits at 4-3 in the No. 2 slot and marked her sixth victory in nine contests.
- Sibel Tanik got back on track, making quick work of A. Evdokimova 6-0, 6-4 in No. 1 singles. The victory marked Tanik's sixth of the year and put her at 6-5 overall in singles play.
- Victoria Saldh rounded out the singles wins for the Phoenix, outlasting Andrea Barcenas 6-3, 6-2 in straight sets at No. 3. It was Saldh's fifth win of the year.
- The combination of Victoria Saldh and Julie Ball got things going in doubles play, defeating Barcenas and Zada McMorris 6-1 in the No. 2 position. With the win the combo now sits at 7-6 overall and moved to 6-6 in No. 2 doubles.
- The tandem of Archer and Alison O'Dea clinched the match for the Phoenix, taking down Ruiz and Cook 6-1 in the No. 3 slot. It was the team-leading 10th win of the year for the pair.
- The duo of Tanik and Reding completed the doubles sweep for Elon, beating Fuller and Evdokimova 6-3 in the No. 1 spot. With the win the duo picked up its eighth win of the year overall and in No. 1 doubles position.

Elon returns to action on Saturday, March 26, when it hosts UNCW in a 10 a.m. matchup at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
