ELON, N.C. – The Elon University softball program and head coach
Kathy Bocock announced the addition of pitcher Meredith Wells, formerly of James Madison, to the program for the 2022-23 academic year as announced on Wednesday, July 6.
"We are excited to add a player of Meredith's caliber to our program," said Bocock. "She comes from a great program with a winning culture at JMU and will fit into our team dynamic while adding some great depth to our pitching rotation next year."
Wells, a native of Daleville, Va., arrives to Elon as a rising junior after spending the first two seasons of her career at James Madison since the 2021 season. Wells made 12 total appearances in the circle with the Dukes including going 3-1 this past spring with an ERA of 4.59 in 29.0 innings of action. She also added a pair of complete-game performances including a two-hit shutout over George Mason. Wells also excelled academically at JMU as she was named an NFCA Academic All-American and was selected to the CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll in her first two seasons.
Prior to JMU, Wells was a four-year standout at Lord Botetourt High School where she earned Blue Ridge District Player of the Year laurels. She also was named to the All-Region III first team and was selected All-Conference first team as a freshman and a sophomore. She also played travel ball for Team NC and the Hanover Lady Hornets.
