Richmond, Va. – For the second straight season, Leah Daniel has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Preseason Player of the Year, while Haylie Clark was named to the 2022 Preseason All-CAA Team and Jenn Krzeminski was named an honorable mention as the league announced its preseason awards and poll on Wednesday, Aug. 17. The Phoenix was tabbed second in the 2022 CAA Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Daniel earned 2021 All-CAA First Team honors after ranking first in the CAA in kills (391), second in kills per set (3.87) and second in points per set (4.23). The Zionsville, Ind. native started all 28 of the team's matches and earned two CAA Offensive Player of the Week selections last season on Sept. 20 and Sept. 27.

Clark was named the 2021 CAA Setter of the Year and was selected to the 2021 All-CAA Second Team after finishing second in the league in assists (955) and third in assists per set (9.46). The Saint Cloud, Fla. native started all 28 of the team's matches and ranked eighth in the CAA in aces (36) and third on the team in digs (209).

Krzeminski was named to the 2021 All-CAA Second team after leading the conference in hitting percentage (.389) and the team in blocks (114). The Furlong, Pa. native started all 28 of the team's matches and was named to the 2021 CAA Championship All-Tournament Team.

Elon begins its 2021 season at the VCU Invitational on Aug. 26-27. On Friday, the Phoenix faces Liberty at 2:30 p.m. The maroon and gold continue the event on Saturday with an 11 a.m. match against High Point before facing host VCU at 2:30 p.m. to conclude the tournament.
