HOUSTON, TX – The Elon University men's tennis team (0-2) fell in a Friday afternoon matchup against Rice, 4-3. The Phoenix won three singles contests but fell short against the Owls.

- Daniel Martin earned Elon's first singles victory of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 result on Court 1. The junior has a team-best 18 singles wins since the start of last season. This was his first win in the No. 1 position at Elon, as his previous 17 came in the Nos. 2, 3 and 5 spots.
- Ahmed Hosni overcame a 4-0 deficit in the opening set to win 7-6, 6-3 on Court 5 for the first singles victory of his career.
- In the No. 6 position, Oskar Antinheimo battled to win in a match tiebreak for his first career dual singles victory. The freshman won the first set in a tiebreak but dropped the second 5-7. He raced out to an early lead in the match tiebreak and held on to win it, 10-8.
- Freshman Veljko Krstic made his dual singles debut for the Phoenix, falling 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 3 position.

Elon faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tomorrow at noon. The match will be played at Rice University.
