Richmond, Va. – Elon freshman
Gabby Hoschek has been voted as the CAA Rookie of the Week for the second time. Hoschek and fellow freshman
Grace Gelhaus have been awarded the honor a combined three times during the 2023 season. The three awards are the most by a team in the CAA this season.
Hoschek has been one of the many key contributors for the Phoenix this season and she showed her class in the final two matches. With just seconds left in the match against Campbell, Hoschek's corner kick found the feet of
Lauren McCauley who riffled the ball into the top, right corner to tie the score with four seconds left. Against the Cougars, Hoschek put the icing on the cake of a 3-0 win with a goal in the 82
nd minute to put the finishing touches on the victory.
Gelhaus becomes the first Phoenix in the Neil Payne era to collect multiple CAA Rookie of the Week Honors. She becomes the first Elon freshman since Meredith Christopher, in 2017, to win the award multiple times in the same season.
Elon finished the year strong by securing four points in the final two games. The Phoenix used a draw against Campbell and a victory over the College of Charleston to end the year on a high note.
The all-CAA teams and awards will be announced later this week, with a number of Elon players up for awards and all-conference honors.
