Elon Continues CAA Play With A Pair Of Matches At William & Mary

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team (3-12, 0-6 CAA) heads up to Williamsburg for a weekend series Saturday and Sunday against William & Mary (9-7, 4-2 CAA). Both matches at the Kaplan Arena are slated to start at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT 
  • Elon went 0-2 against Northeastern last weekend in its second CAA home series. The Huskies won a five-setter on Saturday and in four sets on Sunday.  
  • Sydney Love tallied 22 kills in the two matches, including a season-high 16 on Saturday.  
  • Freshman Jessica Parker continued to pace the Phoenix in assists with 55 on the weekend. On Saturday, the freshman recorded her second double-double of her career with 28 assists and a career-high 15 digs. She led the team in aces in both matches over the weekend with three on Saturday and two on Sunday.  
  • On Sunday, Lindsey Harris recorded a career-high eight blocks and came one short of her career high in kills with nine.  
  • Jordan Gower added a team-high 35 digs on the weekend, averaging 3.89 digs per set.  
  • On Sunday, Caroline Doyle notched a season-best 16 digs.   
PHOENIX FACTS 
  • Jessica Parker has eclipsed 20 assists in five games this season. The freshman ranks No. 8 in the CAA in aces (22), assists (327) and assists per set (6.17). She also has recorded an ace in six straight games.  
  • Senior Jordan Gower ranks No. 3 in the conference in digs (218) and digs per set (4.11). She has tallied 20-plus digs in three of Elon's last four matches. 
  • Cameron Lanier continues to pace the Phoenix in kills with 132 this season followed by Sydney Love (99) and Keira Kasten (87).  
  • Four Elon players have registered at least 30 blocks this season. Lanier (39), Caroline Berlekamp (35), Kyla Johnson (31) and Lindsey Harris (30) pace the Phoenix.  
  • As a team, the maroon and gold ranks No. 5 in the CAA in digs per set (14.15) and blocks per set (1.98) while ranking eighth in service aces per set (1.49).  
THE SERIES 
  • Elon leads the all-time series against William & Mary, 13-9. 
  • The teams split in last year's series where the Phoenix swept the Tribe on Nov. 24, 2022 at home followed by the Tribe taking a five-set battle win the next day.
  • Elon is 5-8 at the Kaplan Arena. 13 of the 15 matches between the Phoenix and Tribe in Williamsburg have gone at least four sets. 
 
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY 
  • The Tribe enters the weekend with a 9-7 overall record and a 4-2 mark in CAA matches after sweeping Hampton in a pair of matches on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.  
  • Olivia Esposito's 0.396 hitting percentage is fourth best in the CAA, while her 1.26 blocks per set is second in the league.  
  • With 5.38 assists per set this season, Amy Schwem ranks No. 9 in the conference in the category. She has recorded double-digit assists in every match this season and leads the team in aces with 17.  
  • Lindsay Kahren is sixth in the CAA with 203 digs this season. The sophomore recorded a career-high 20 digs at Ohio earlier this season.  
  • Ryann Love, the younger sister of Elon's Sydney Love, has appeared in three matches for the Tribe this season.  
  • The head coach of the Tribe is Ryan Adams, who is in his first year with the program. 

UP NEXT
 
Elon returns home to the Schar Center next Saturday and Sunday with a weekend series against fellow Triad rival NC A&T. Both contests are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
