THE RUNDOWN
  • The Phoenix debuted three new doubles tandems on Sunday but lost a tight doubles point.
  • After the Wolfpack won in the No. 3 spot, their team of Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli used a late break of serve at 4-4 to clip Oskar Antinheimo and Veljko Krstic 6-4 on Court 2, clinching the doubles point for NC State. Nicholas Campbell and Daniel Martin were tied 4-4 on Court 1 against Rafa Izquierdo Luque and Joseph Wayand, who are ranked No. 39 in the ITA's doubles rankings.
  • NC State won the first four completed singles matches in straight sets to go ahead 5-0.
  • Daniel Martin won the opening set 6-4 against No. 75 Rafa Izquierdo Luque on Court 1 but lost the second by the same score to go to a match tiebreak. With the score tied 9-9, the junior earned the final two points to seal a victory. The win was Martin's first in two attempts against a player ranked in the ITA singles rankings since joining the Phoenix. He now has a team-high seven singles wins this season.
  • Nicholas Campbell also won 11-9 in a match tiebreak, as the senior overcame an early deficit to give Elon victories in the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. Campbell has now won six of his last eight singles matches, with four of the wins coming in the No. 2 spot.
  • With Martin and Campbell's victories, Elon has won in both Nos. 1 and 2 singles in six of the last eight contests.
  • This is the first time in the last four meetings between Elon and NC State that the Phoenix has won more than one point.
